WSM Receives Department of Justice Grant to Support Mentoring in King, Kitsap and Snohomish Counties
In 2010 Washington State Mentors received a Department of Justice grant to assist at-risk youth in avoiding violence, negative behavior, and substance abuse and to support them in staying in school and achieving academic success. The project will provide mentoring for 150 youth who receive services in the child welfare system, provide technical assistance to mentoring programs, and build organizational capacity. The project will serve youth ages 6 -18 years of age living in King, Kitsap, or Snohomish counties.
Washington State Mentors would like to thank Senator Patty Murray, Congressman Jay Inslee and Congressman Jim McDermott for their support in securing this grant.
More information on the grants available in King, Kitsap and Snohomish counties will be posted on WSM's website in September. Please visit our website frequently for up to date information.
Success Story
Something Magical
There is something super magical about going to summer camp on Lake Wenatchee, especially when you have an awesome cabin counselor. Tevin did! Two years ago when Tevin was in Trin’s cabin that super magic encircled them both.
