This experiential conference on the art of mentoring is one of the signature events of National Mentoring Month (January). The Weekend is a transformative gathering filled with playful workshops, big idea sessions, stirring speakers, a "social capital exchange." At The Guiding Lights Weekend you will be inspired, and raise your game -- as a mentor, leader, manager, teacher, student, parent, or coach.
Seattle Cares Mentoring Movement
The Seattle Cares Mentoring Movement is a call to action to African-American men and women to put their hand on a vulnerable young person’s shoulder and rise to the challenge of creating a lasting positive impact on their lives. Seattle Cares is not a mentoring program. It is part of the National CARES Mentoring Movement whose mission is to create a highly visible and effective national mentoring campaign targeting the African American community.
In partnership with the FBI, MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership is pleased to make nationwide FBI fingerprint-based background checks available to any mentoring program in the country. Through SafetyNET, each FBI background check costs only $18. There is a turnaround time of approximately 5 business days from the time the background check materials are received by MENTOR until the fitness determinations are emailed to the program from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). For an overview of the SafetyNET pilot, please read the SafetyNET Fact Sheet.
