CISR mentors provide elementary and middle and High school children with encouragement and guidance during their academic career. Our mentors serve as a mature and experienced role model and friend who supports and encourage academic success. Mentors and Mentees meet for one hour each week during the school day for conversation, games, sports, study-skills, crafts, homework and most of all friendship.

Nadine and Lynn

Nadine and Lynn have been matched for seven years. Lynn has championed for Nadine and will never waiver in her support and care. She has been a solid and consistent friend, always there to listen and help Nadine work through life’s challenges. Lynn and Nadine genuinely care for one another and have a wonderful friendship that will last a lifetime.

Kevin and Doug

Kevin and Doug have been together for six years, ever since Kevin was in the 5th grade. Kevin’s teacher, who happened to be Doug’s wife, recognized that Kevin was in desperate need of a positive adult role model. Kevin was struggling. Today Kevin is a sophomore at Renton High School who loves football, basketball and band. He has grown into a vibrant, confident and successful young man who has a wonderful outlook on life. Doug cares for Kevin like he cares for his own children. He is very proud that Kevin is a gentleman and that they have a genuine respect for one another.

Unconditional Friendship

Linnette and Norma

Linnette and Norma have been matched since 2001. When they met, Linnette was shy and felt misunderstood. Today she is bright and outgoing freshmen in high school. The friendship between Linnette and Norma is genuine and based on trust. They will be friends long after Linnette graduates high school. Norma feels that being a mentor is a priceless gift that touches the life of not only the mentee but the mentor as well.
